Q&A with Process Engineer Courteney Fabbri: What is it like to work at Brindley Engineering — a Great Place to Work® certified company?

This prestigious award is based entirely on what current employees say about their experience working at Brindley Engineering. Q: What does this Great Place to Work award mean to you?
CF: I have 3 answers to this!
First, it means that happiness is measured on how well we are able to balance our personal and professional lives. Especially post-COVID. We have the flexibility to come in the office and/or work from home — and having that option shows BE trusts us to determine where we can be the most efficient. I think that’s an important key to our happiness. Brindley Engineering is one of the best engineering companies to work for!
Also, we have so many different projects going on so there’s never a boring day! We cater to so many different types of clients and industries, so we have a lot of work diversity and we’re not doing the same thing every day. The variety is awesome and always keeps things interesting and challenging.
Finally, the managers at BE are incredible. From my perspective, every single manager is approachable. I am comfortable walking into anyone’s office, even when I just started here. Approachability of the BE management is huge.
Q: Earning this 2021 best places to work designation means that Brindley Engineering is one of the best companies to work for in the country. Do you agree?
CF: Absolutely! Of course, I’m biased but that speaks to my happiness here. BE keeps it interesting. It’s hard to explain but the combination of our culture and the investment in our people is so strong. BE shows that they are fully invested in helping us better ourselves both personally and professionally, regardless of our experience level.

Q: What do you think about this feedback from BE employees?
CF: It makes us all proud! It’s a young company that has grown quickly for a reason. It’s a testament to our leadership and the value put on coworkers and employees at every level of the company. It shows that Brindley Engineering is a great place to work company!
Q: Can you describe the BE culture?
CF: You can be yourself. You have flexibility. Our culture is about ‘doing what you need to do’ and that includes both personal and professional tasks. The approachability of everyone I work with adds a layer of support. If I ask someone a question on Teams, 99.9% of the time I will get a replay within the hour from someone who can help me. There is no judging or pretentiousness in this culture.
Q: There is mention of BE having a diverse culture. What does that mean?
CF: Literally diversity of everything: ethnicity, age, gender, project work, and more. It’s truly a special place.
Q: If there is one thing you could tell potential employees about working at BE, what would it be?
CF: Don’t feel overwhelmed as a new grad. BE will help you assimilate into your new role. There will be a support system for you and BE will invest in you in the ways you want to develop in. All you have to do is raise your hand and you will be listened to.
Q: Any advice for current job seekers looking for engineering jobs in Chicago?
CF: Look up the people who work at the company that you are interviewing with. Look beyond the website. Look at their profiles on LinkedIn and see how they engage with each other. Every job interview is a two-way street!
